Piano*DadWhen the dust settles, I strongly suspect the Netanyahu government will fold. The public revulsion and resentment about how he and the religio-crazies have operated will force a change. Maybe my hopes are triumphing against reality, but ...
In a saner time, Golda knew it was time to go after the failures that led to the Yom Kippur war.

piquéGolda was extremely ill with cancer during that war and only hung on until there was a peace agreement.

Piano*Dad More "Democrats" ...seem to see things this way.
As this viewpoint begins to reflect the Democratic party, I will find myself without a political home.

MikhailohJoin the club. I don't recognize today's GOP. We've gone from parties with underlying principles to underlying whatever the voting public will buy.

piquéThere has gotta be some statesmen/women out there somewhere. If just one person will stand up and articulate truth so that people resonate to it, it could make all the difference.
I had some hope for Pete Buttigieg in this regard. The gay issue will probably make that impossible.
Bernie Sanders resonated for a lot of people, problem is he never accomplished anything and is now too old.
Our own former D governor of MT seemed promising--until he opened his mouth on the national stage and revealed that his charisma didn't live up to his actual governing chops.
We need a Reagan but with the right policies. Find and recruit.

I find this intensely frustrating, and I will not support a Democratic party led by people like Jayapal.

Piano*DadThat's what many progressives are saying as well. But they're serious.

ShiroKuroI don't understand how people like Jayapal don't just implode from the cognitive dissonance...
I also don't understand how this is so common... Is it because people can't handle nuance? Although condemning rape isn't a nuanced activity....

QuirtEvansI've lost a lot of trust with the left over their idiotic stance on Palestine. I never thought I would say it, but, faced with a choice between an ultra-progressive and a moderate Republican, I might vote for the Republican.
I still might not, but it has entered the realm of possibility ... maybe even probability, depending on how moderate the Republican is.
06 December 2023, 11:25 AM
Piano*DadI don't believe in moderate Republicanism anymore. The few who are left say idiotic things to avoid being primaried and hide unconscionable votes behind cognitive-dissonance-inducing doublespeak. Most have retired and left the field open for MAGA nuts.
My Congresscritter (Wittman) tries to sound measured and moderate, and then votes not to uphold the election.
For me, voting Republican is not an option, and I don't think I will ever vote for one again absent a party catharsis ending in a formal apology to the American people for their words and actions. That's not happening so ...
