I’ve never been much of a fan.I watched a few Red Sox games when they were winning the pennant. Several months ago I was channel surfing and stopped on a women’s basketball game and watched in wonder. Martha came and and expressed surprise at me watching sports. I could only say “ I can’t believe how good they are. And they’re girls!” I’ve been a fan ever since and watching Caitlyn Clarke break records as I type this. Seats sold for $9,000 each.i just love to see such excitement over women’s sports. And I love the back story here, with Clark ending up on Iowa because UConn did not offer her a place But not looking good for Iowa as I type Anyone else watching. J, never an athlete, father of a daughter who was a competitive skier in high school.

There's a little more to the Iowa/UConn story. First, Clark grew up wanting to go to UConn, but, by the time she was a senior, her AAU coach says she wouldn't have gone there, even if recruited. She just wanted to be recruited. Second, the reason UConn didn't recruit her was because it was recruiting Paige Brueckers from Minnesota, and she and Clark play the same position. The UConn coach didn't think it would be fair to either of them to recruit both. Clark is utterly amazing, though. Not just her shooting, which is ridiculous. Her passing is also pretty eye-popping, and I think she got near to 10 rebounds in the championship game.

You clearly know way more than I do. Late to this. Loved watching and I will say if it was men I would not have tuned in. I do think Clark may have set some new records. Thank you for your input.

A team with Beukers and Clark as guards would be ... awesome.

When I was college age I spent a summer at home in Missouri. Tennessee was a ferry ride away. Was seeing a girl in Tennessee. Watched her in basketball practice one day. That ended my sugar and spice concept of females. Tennessee was very active in women's basketball.

That must have been the Pat Summit era, when they were the best team in the college women’s basketball.

Would have been the 60s. Cannot say much for the state now.
