I tried to ping Tom Nichols (Death of Expertise) to get his take. No response yet. He is kind of busy Big Grin .

Experts from academe have always been abused by pols to score debaters points with the unwashed public. The current administration, however, excels at raising true snake oil salesmen on par with the most informed experts in order to displace expert opinion with whatever the leader happens to prefer.
