The tuner came and tuned my piano today, it sounds fantastic!! These were recorded on my cellphone so not the best quality recording or playing. The tuner will come back next month for regulation and then I’ll decide whether or how much voicing I want done. But it sounds really great after being just tuned, I am so pleased!! Anyway, give a listen if you have a minute. (Standard disclaimers about sloppy playing and crummy cellphone recoding apply! Congrats, sounds great! Voicing can be tricky. Initially we try to make a smooth progression from the body in the bass through the midrange into the clarity of the treble. What is even more important is to try to communicate between owner and technician what you are seeking between dark and bright. The best voicers not only allow a range of soft to loud, but also a change in tone (voice) of the piano based on touch...

Thanks for listening Ron!
Yes, this will be the challenge for me, I think. Just from talking with him so far, though, I think it will go well. He wants to take a conservative approach, I interpret his explanations as wanting to make sure he doesn't over-voice. But he listened to me play a few sections of pieces that are up in the upper registers, which is where I think I will want to hear the most difference post-voicing, and we talked about the sound and what I want etc. In any case, he wants me to hear it/play it after it's been regulated, and maybe even play it for a week or so after, before doing very much of anything voicing-wise. Still, it sounds pretty great right now. (The recording definitely doesn't do it justice).

Sounds wonderful! Both the playing and the piano. I always appreciate nice lower tones, which a grand piano almost always delivers better than an upright. Yours sounds great--it's the support for the entire piece. How exciting! | |||

Thanks for listening everyone!! Now I need to get all the more challenging pieces I'm working on up to recordable level. And then check out the Zoom from the library.

Thank you again everyone for listening and for the lovely comments! Jodi, re the first piece, there's a violin in the original recording. The violin part is kind of boring, but my violin friend is pretty good at improvising, so we're planning to get together next weekend and this piece will be on our list of things to play together. As you might imagine, I'm really looking forward to that!!
