What is wrong with these people? I can agree that you might find it offensive, but how about using it as a teaching exercise? It's in a school, for heaven's sake. It's not like it isn't historically accurate.

Holy cow.

If it's such a problem, they could cover the mural with curtains. There is no need to be rash and destroy them. Hide them until a better solution presents itself.

We're living in a time when arts education is being eradicated from public schools. The existence of the Humanities and Social Sciences in higher education is being attacked by radical conservatives for allegedly lacking legitimacy and purpose. Public education itself is being privatized wherever and whenever radical conservatives see an opportunity. I see the problem as radical social and economic conservatism.

However, the "snowflake" reaction and response are the equivalent of taking a fall in a boxing match. It is utterly corrupt "feel good" nonsense. This way of thinking and teaching, specifically teaching and giving a veneer of legitimacy to the idea of art as something with the power to "traumatize" is very damaging to individuals, whether members of minority groups or not. It is very damaging to culture (clearly). And it is very damaging to society.

How are "we" going to stop this bs when "we" are perpetuating it? I don't know. I'm a fan of 1930's murals but apparently the "ad hoc" committee disagrees with me. Smh.
