Craft beer brewers from Ohio have won a total of 15 medals at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival.

The festival ran from October 3 to October 5 and was held in Denver, Colorado.

“Ohio breweries work so hard every day to create exceptional beers and memorable experiences in their taprooms, it’s great to see them recognized alongside the country’s best” said Mary MacDonald, executive director of the Ohio Craft Brewers Association. “A showing like this on the biggest stage in craft beer just reinforces that Ohio has emerged as a leader in the industry and a destination for world-class beer.”

I sent this to my Son in Law who is a huge beer fan. I know he likes the beer from a couple of the breweries mentioned because he has the tee shirts.

You really would not believe how many craft breweries we have. Overall I would have to say Rheingeist is my favorite.

I don't know whether it's because Americans just prefer beer, or beer is easier to produce, but it seems to me that interest in beer has far outpaced interest in wine in this country. Wine somehow hasn't shed its image as an elite beverage. Even wine bars aren't that common. Great craft beer is everywhere, it seems.

I say this as someone who much prefers wine to beer...I'm envious.

I think the two are closely intertwined. The last three decades have seen an amazing increase in interest in fine wines, then beer, now spirits.

We have five small breweries in our area of about 75K people. Beer culture is doing really well.

Heck, I've got one about a mile from my house.

There are more than 100 breweries in Maine. Much of the craft beer is simply delicious and going to a brewery to taste with a "flight" of small glasses is fun.
