wtgBad weather here
We're OK, but bad storms hit some of the southwest suburbs about an hour away from us. We have friends who live there and we checked with them this morning and they are fine. The storm hit an area 5 minutes from them. Yikes.
https://wgntv.com/news/chicago...cross-south-suburbs/https://abc7chicago.com/chicag...do-warning/10815597/The sirens went off a little before 11 last night. I was soundly asleep and it took me a while to realize what was going on. Even after we were both awake, it never occurred to either Mr wtg or me that we should head for the basement. Duh.
Fortunately our area was spared; this morning when we looked outside there aren't any branches or even any leaves down, so apparently we had no wind to speak of. Ton of much-needed rain, though.
Looks like this weather is heading east....beware...

rontunerRolled through the downtown area around midnight - lots of lightning over the lake later. We didn't get any of the damaging wind here. South and west had the tornado damage.

ShiroKuroWTG and Ron, sooo glad you all are ok!! Those photos are just too scary!!
I grew up in Central IL. and these kinds of scenes are why I really wanted a basement when we bought our house here. Even though this area doesn't get a lot of tornadoes, there have been two that touched down and caused damage in the 6 years I've lived here. IOW, not zero. So I want to always have a basement to run down to!

Mary AnnaMy publisher is in one of the towns hit--Naperville. I checked on my editor and she says she's fine and that she'll find out how everybody else fared at the Monday business meeting, so the publishing house's office must have come through okay.
I'm hoping for the best for everybody in the affected area.

wtgIt was an EF-3 tornado with 140 mph winds.
A number of people had injuries, one in critical condition. It's a miracle there weren't more.
