Thank you all very much for your caring, much welcome words. PD's comments on the widow were especially helpful. There is actually much more going on making this period all the more devastating - about this issue and another (altogether separate) one. I'll delay confiding them, though. I'd especially appreciate comments and advice on the family issue and pertinent knowledge if any on the second (which is medical).

If you don't know it, I'll be back and will recount it. But the moral of the tale is that a scorpion must sting its victim to death, because that is its nature. People don't change.
