Pinta & the Santa Maria Has Achieved Nirvana |
At the same time, I keep hearing news of how the (new) Fox leadership wants to back away from some of its more dog-whistle types of reporting, and they are losing eyeballs. If the MAGA crowd no longer trusts Fox, where does that leave it as a news source? And yes, we are all being placed into our own echo chambers. The number of people who rely on Facebook for their news is staggering, and we know they are curating people's news feeds. It takes some effort to actually go out and read news (or listen to news) from a variety of sources. TV "news," imo, is essentially one giant opinionfest, not news. But there appears to be a sizeable group of individuals (throughout the political spectrum) who seem to feel that if it was on TV, or on Facebook, then it's news and must be true. The "true" part is reinforced when Facebook curates what they see, and they self-select into watching MSNBC or Fox or what have you. Thanks for gutting the old Fairness Doctrine, Ronny boy. Thanks, network execs, for requiring your network news divisions to become "profit centers."

It's all true. This is the only White House, in the history of the country, where the people were stressed and under pressure.
