Or am I going senile? Or is it part of the rotating photos we have been seeing? Either way, it's pretty and looks like the environs around here. | ||

It is. I cannot address the other. It is the White River near Skookum Falls on the east side of Mount Rainier. I took it five years ago this week, so I thought it would be appropriately seasonal.

Well, ummmm... a couple years ago for my birthday, I went camping at a state park on the Green River. We drove up to Crystal Mountain which is a popular ski area on the east side of Mount Rainier. On the way back we stopped to take a few pictures and let the dog romp in the river. This spot has a little parking area for a viewpoint for Skookum Falls: Up the road a little ways there's a bridge across the river and a trailhead from which you can hike up to the falls. Until a little over a century ago, water from the White River eventually flowed into Lake Washington which is a large freshwater lake east of Seattle. Then, in 1906, heavy flooding changed the course of the river and it now it ends up in lower Puget Sound near Tacoma. The river is fed from a glacier so it has that lovely steely grey rocky flavor of glacial till. A little more about the river is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_River_(Washington)

I was torn between the picture I chose and the picture of the falls. I decided the picture of the falls looks like it could have been taken any time of the year, but the river is definitely late fall just before the snows set in.

And kudos to Matt for the colors. I really love the forest green and twig brown for the links. It looks very PNWish like REI or Eddie Bauer colors.
