“Virgin River,” aka “Men behaving badly.” No shortage of childbirth. It’s ladies flick. Mrs. Miller loves it. Writing isn’t terrible. Characters are good. Nice scenery. But not for me.

I liked the first season, not as thrilled with the second. Has she watched Bridgerton yet? (It’s amazon prime)

Yes. She loved it. I retired to the garage.

Ha! Many years ago I watched the animated version of it on the Cartoon Network. Lupin the Third.

"Pretend it's a City" Hilarious! I hear even people who have never lived in NYC have belly laughs.

I was bored silly by "Virgin River "- worse, I felt that as with all too many recent shows, the acting was sappy. (If it comes to childbirth shows, I really enjoyed "Call the Midwife".) I also really enjoyed "Better Call Saul" - every bit as good as "Breaking Bad" whose prequel it is. Admittedly, though it seems to be more what Steve would call a ladies flic, I've loved "Outlander". Looking forward to the new season. Just discovered "Designated Survivor" to which I fled after "Virgin River" made me doze off. A trifle too deadpan (re acting) but far better performances. Exciting and I love the character study of the new president - an exploration of how leadership develops. Also (I'm just in the beginning of the first season) it reminded me a little scary bit of current events. Talk about damaging the Capitol! If you too missed it, I strongly suggest it - something for everyone.

Let’s meet in the middle at “Emily in Paris”. Very well done, especially the humorous send up of the the French. I really like “Call the Midwife”, even though I may be betraying my fellow men. It’s charming, as is Doc Martin. Is it OK for me to use the word charming?

Maybe if I'd stayed with it a little longer, I'd have found something of value in "Emily in Paris" (Haven't a clue what the story line is....) but I was turned off by it. As with Doc Martin (which I only stayed with as barely able to distract me enough to stay on the stair-stepper), I would not dignify either as "charming" but rather "cute". By contrast, "Last Tango in Halifax" involves real character studies, well acted. PS. Note I edited an incorrect title - meant "Outlander" above, not "Outsider". I really enjoyed the excellent period settings and costumes, as well as the beautiful Gaelic music and truly charming Highland ambiance/dialect (I have over a dozen CDs of Gaelic music and a set of "Teach Yourself Gaelic" tapes - unopened.) Also, the characters drew me in at a deep level. However, I must admit that without the absolute ultimate hotness of Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, I wouldn't have given it five stars (more if I could). In contrast to (ugh) "Game of Thrones", it was really sexy - PG/R (?) owing to much nudity, but without being porn.

I've been enjoying "the repair shop" - British show mostly restoring antiques and such.

So who's watching All Creatures Great and Small? We're doing that one as they come out. Sue did all of Designated Survivor. I didn't even start it though. | |||
