Muffin's virtual graduation from Columbia Teachers College is tonight, so we're watching the live stream.

During an intense two-year MA in TESOL K-12, they were chosen for a one-semester graduate assistantship that had them teaching at Columbia in the evening after going to school all day.

After a period of school observation, they began their student teaching in person at an international school, then completed it on Zoom, which was surely very stressful. They found time to perform with the Teachers College's community chorus.

And they did all this while living an hour away by subway.

I'm very, very proud.

Well...um...she is. She did start college a year early, but she took a gap year, so the timing is about right.

And whenever I want to look back and weird myself out, I think, "She's now a few months older than I was when her brother was born." It tracks, since he was born the year after I finished my MS, but holy cow.

Congrats!

I remember meeting her when she was 13. It was Rachel and I for whom she made the muffins that gave us her wtf name.

Actually Rachel might not have been there. I think it was just me, or me and my sister.

Or maybe it was me, Rachel, and my sis.

Cant remember.

I was going to say Rachel came or maybe both Rachel and her sister, but now I'm thinking it was just you. I recall that the pile of muffins was very tall for the number of people eating them.

Thanks, P*D!

We met you and several others in Richmond at Plays' party, and Jon was there, but the muffin meeting was a couple of years before that at my house in Gainesville. Jon's sister was living there, so we got together a few times when he came to visit her.

I first met Jon in New York when my son went up there for his I'm-graduating-from-high-school-so-Mom's-taking-me-someplace-cool trip. He and CJQ were the first forumites I met in person.

The graduation was virtual, so there was no cap and gown and no photos.

However, I do have a relatively recent photo of her at our wedding party a little more than two years ago. As a bonus, those are two of my grandsons behind her, one of my son's kids and one of Muffin's Sister's.
