That's a brand name, not an adjective....

A well-funded startup company is attempting to break new ground in the direct-to-consumer hearing aid market with a full suite of internet-based teleaudiology services.

Lively not only sells affordable, high-quality hearing aids over the internet. It also offers web-based hearing assessment and testing, face-to-face video conferences with audiologists, and two years of online adjustments without ever having to visit the doctor's office.

With $16 million in backing from top venture capital firms, the New York company is offering hearing aids for $2,350 per pair (or 24 monthly $98 payments at 0% APR, for qualified buyers).

Costco also carries various models of ReSound brand hearing aids; I don't know how Costco's prices compare to Lively's. Of course at Costco you get the full face-to-face services of an audiologist and Lively is DIY.

Still, maybe a good alternative for people who don't have access to Costco.

The audiologist I saw at Costco told me three things.
Two were wrong. The other was technically correct, alarmist, and inconsequential.
She sent me on two months of fearing I required an implant, tests, and travel to a mediocre audiologist and two doctors at the University of Colorado that must have been on commission.
I have found that independent audiologists supporting themselves with their competence are the only ones worth seeing.
Have been wearing hearing aids since 1986. Will consider the online company only because I have an edge due to experience.

Always get i the period of time you have in which they can be returned for a refund in writing. The laws governing that vary state to state.
