I'm going to be 64 soon and my near vision has finally deteriorated to the point that the computer and piano are looking a bit blurry; I can still read without reading glasses, but even that's getting a bit iffy, especially in poor light.

I have progressive lenses which are good for general use, but for specific tasks like the computer and playing the piano, not so much.

Would love to hear how other folks have tackled the problem. Progressive computer glasses? Single vision for the mid-range?

Thanks in advance!

This! I have my glasses with all-purpose progressive lenses for general use, and then a separate pair with single vision lenses that are a mid-distance. I use those for computer (with my large monitor) and piano.

I can sort of play piano with my progressive lenses but it's kind of weird and looks like the keyboard curves. With my single vision lenses, it's perfect. Sit down at your piano and figure out how far away the keyboard and sheet music are when you're playing, then when you get your eyes examined talk to the doc about what your needs are distance-wise, and maybe bring a score or two with you, and they should be able to get a good mid-distance prescription for you.

It is a hassle to have two pairs of glasses, but in terms of my ability to see, and not have eye strain or headaches, it's worth it!

They make progressive computer glasses. For reading and piano playing. They just do the up close and 3 feet away range. I’ve had them for awhile. I’m nearsighted (my distance vision is bad) so I need correction for that, plus for the close up stuff - but the space in the lens when I correct for all of that isn’t big enough - so now I have the ones that just do the short distances as well. And I have several of those - one that is stronger than the other, for working on artwork that is a little closer.
