Transplant Pride
Post transplant you take a lot of pills. It starts with immunosuppressants. Also a few prophylactic antivirals, to keep some common but dealt to us viruses away. And then some minerals and supplements because some of the immunosuppressants deplete your natural levels. It all adds up.

So my Monday morning ritual is to fill this container, for the week. Each day I take out one of the strips and those are my pills for the day - current count is 28 daily - but it's been as high as 60.

But anyway, the reason I'm posing this is that, only now, in the closing days of pride month, did I notice that my pill container looks like a pride flag. Smiler

Jon, you are missing a great opportunity to become righteously aggrieved.

Jon, that is a lot to keep track of!

Just out of curiosity, when people are screened to decide whether they are good candidates for a transplant, is one of the factors something like “likelihood of being consistent/compliant w/ medication regime”?

It actually is. A history of non-compliance will make you ineligible for listing. Occasionally some clinician in the transplant program will lord such threats over you, even after you are on the list.

Makes sense, as long as there are fewer organs than recipients.

Holy Cow! Hope you aren't troubled by much of a gag reflex.

Arranging to take your pills four times a day is quite a challenge - at least, it is for me (I fail. Nothing like so many but four of my pills compete for absorption, so I'm supposed to be sure of leaving hours in-between.)

Good thing you're so organized!
