A guy was convicted of murdering his wife in front of their child. He served 25 years. After he got out, he assaulted another woman. He served four years for that. The judge figured that by age 77 he was too old to murder again.
Happened locally here too. Elderly couple both at least 70 y.o., husband drowned his wife in the bathtub. Neighbors were surprised, said the guy was a nice fellow.
