I'd posted previously on the restoration of this building. This story that showed up in a newsletter I receive has a lot more details and some excellent pictures of the restored station. I might have to go visit Mik's area sometime to see it for myself. Big Al

Magnificent! Perhaps you could visit as a part of a train tour through Ohio. Have you heard of the The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad up closer to Cleveland? They run tours like wine tasting trains through Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Pretty scenery, interesting old train and staffed by passionate hobbyists. It follows the route of the now-defunct Ohio and Erie canal, which is fitting because the arrival of the train is what put it out of business. You can still see a lot of the canal infrastructure along the route.

The sheer scale of that facade had me swooning. Such grand proportion and righteous accents. Glorious!

A friend of mine just went on that trip They were stranded on the hot train for several hours when it broke down. And yeah, Union Terminal is an incredible building.

That's a shame. We've been on it twice and it's a nice ride when things go right. They have a Polar Express version they run at Christmas and we may try that next time we are there.
