I assume she's troubled because that's how she describes herself. Either she's right, and she is, or she's wrong, in which case she's got some issues.

I didn't know of the daughter's existence until ten minutes ago.

Why should I care about her as opposed to the 10's of millions of people in this country in an all pandemic, all the time mode, along with record unemployment figures.

This girl is privileged. She can "retreat" in privacy. She can "afford" therapy. We know almost nothing about her.

Yet, she is held up by the media as an example off sorrow. Pending further facts, I feel no particular attachment to her at all.

If this makes me a jerk, so be it.
