Question on last measure of the Goldberg Variations Aria
I don't know why I am obsessing over such a minor detail, but, should I hold the B (half note) with the fermata?



And, why is the fermata hanging out over the repeat symbol vs. the last note?

Hmm, so, what edition is the score? Have you compared it to other editions to see if it's written the same way?

Separate from that... that is a really weird spot for a fermata!! WhoMe

Bach used the Fermata to indicate a pause before starting the first variation. If there was not a fermata, it was expected that each variation would immediately follow the preceding one without a pause.
