Who's aiming your information telescope? Just like looking through a strong telescope at a forest gives a close-up view of only a small area, watching the news or doing an internet search gives a specific view of a wider subject. It is really the organization or the search engine that aims your telescope - often based on past searches and the profits earned by having you as a watcher/user... You may think you are getting solid information, but more likely you are getting bits of information and often outright lies to increase your emotional response so that you continue to watch or go down a rabbit hole! What do you do to try to get accurate information??

I'd like to think I'm a reasonably independent thinker, but I know I'm as susceptible as the next person to the narrowing of viewpoint that you describe. I try to diversify my sources, but I'm not sure how good a job I'm doing. It's a real problem, and a frustrating one. The rapid evolution of AI will only compound the issues. aside: I wonder how common formal debate events in schools are these days...old-fashioned, but a way to hone critical thinking skills.

I’m so jaded after my info bubble burst with the 2016 election. Most of my news comes from NYTimes, and I’m skeptical about everything.
