Get some Reyn Spooner shirts. Expensive but built for Hawaii which is hot but or humid. Plus they look amazing.

I like those!

Expensive on Amazon, but readily available in my size on eBay. I just bid on one - thanks!

Rayon should work for Hawaiian shirts or any others that aren't form-fitting, and you aren't tucking in. Air just needs to be able to move around between the shirt and your cuerpo. Speaking of cuerpos, maybe a guayabera shirt?

No linen or linen blends because they wrinkle immediately. I never understood the appeal.

For dress shirts, 100% is it. Sometimes you can find something that's like 95% cotton and 5% something else. That's probably OK.

Years ago when I was in the Philippines for a concert I bought a shirt in the local style. It was light and airy, being that it’s a hot and humid country. But I realized I couldn’t wear it in the States because it was also sheer and looks awkward on men here. Different culture!

You might be talking about silk batik shirts. Great in hot and humid weather indeed, though I have not been able to find them in the USA.

Quite possibly! I ended up donating it to a charity sale.

I wear a lot of "heat gear" polo shirts from Under Armour.

A fair amount of my work is piano moving---so in summertime I need to be comfortable, but at look somewhat professional.

These fit that bill.
