Ok, I think I'm done moving things around in the piano room for now. I decided I need that rug there for the benefit of the piano, the room is just too live and echo-y without it, so that's definitely going to stay. I tried having the castle on the right and rocking chair on the left, which I like better in theory: castle on right 1 castle on right 2 But because of the piano's influence on the rug, there's less room for the rocking chair that way, so I put the castle back on the right and the rocking chair on the left, and I think that's the way I'm going to leave it for now. When I have visitors, I can bring in more chairs and put them in front of the window, move the rocking chair and actually put it on the rug maybe. But for now, I think this is how I'll leave it until I get a grand (which hopefully will not be too far out in the future!) Final arrangement: I would like to have some more plants, maybe in front of the big window. And I will put up my piano artwork above the piano, that should help a lot. Now, anyone have some suggestions for curtains? I think I need them to absorb more of the piano because this room is so live (see tinnitus thread!) What kind of curtains could I get that won't clash with this crazy rug and will work with a future grand piano that might be either brown or black?

Start with a solid color (pick one from your rug), on rings so they just slide to the side. They are inexpensive and you can find them anywhere. I’d put up more substantial rods, too, Set them wider than the windows so you can move the curtains completely to the side(so you don’t lose any light during the day) You can always put up something fancier later. Like this (only shorter so the don’t block the heat) https://www.amazon.com/Gorgeou...gid=pla-668436052510

Thanks Jodi! Those look good. Do you think we could do something like these ivory ones? There's ivory in the carpet. (And yes, I'd get a better rod, not the wrap arounds, but the stick kind with a nice bulb on the end). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018...ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it Eventually there will be framed artwork on probably all the walls, probably more than one piece per wall, none with matching frames. So that's a lot of visual "clutter" (to use a negative word) so it seems like very neutral, understated curtains would be better. Also, I like how bright it is now, esp. at night, which I attribute to the wall color, so I was thinking that sticking with a light shade in curtains would facilitate that??
