Mary AnnaSteve mentioned grandparenting during COVID. It's interesting....
A class of 52 students that you don't know? Oh, sk, that sounds hard to deal with. I'm really sorry.
My classes have low caps, thanks to requirements for writing-intensive courses, so I personally cannot complain about class size, but I am still upset about the let's-pretend-it's-not-happening approach. My students are exposed to far more people than I am, so they are being put in unnecessary danger, as are teachers like you with big classes. And, as I said above, the pedagogical fallout from having people drop in and out of class due to sickness, quarantine and (God forbid) bereavement will be hard to predict and mitigate.
I just don't understand how we have gotten to the point that prudent handling of a public health crisis is somehow politically fraught.
(Well, I sort of do understand, but I still despair.)

Mary AnnaThanks, Jack!
It's essentially in the can, but it still needs to wend its way through the publication process. The pub date is next June.
It'll be a new series, so I'm very excited.
