If you give a tax break to corporations, gotta pay for it somehow.

Speaking before a House Appropriations Subcommittee, DeVos answered questions about what would amount to an overall 10 percent education budget reduction, Yahoo News reported. In addition to suggesting cuts to the Special Olympics fund, DeVos’ budget also cut money from state grants for special education and programs for students who are blind.

Conversely, the budget would raise funding for charter schools by $60 million.

“Do you know how many kids are going to be affected by that (Special Olympics) cut, Madam Secretary?” Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis., asked DeVos.

DeVos said the Trump administration had to “make some difficult decisions” regarding the budget, and then admitted she didn’t know how many children would be affected.

“It’s 272,000 kids,” Pocan interjected.

Alan Greenspan, no less, has explained the fact that the U.S. is sovereign in its currency, and, you (one) can probably find this on YouTube.

My guess is that the special Olympics funding is a throwaway. Funding for it will be restored, the $60 mil for for-profit schools will remain and no one will say a thing about it.

Can anything be said about Betsy DeVos that hasn't already been said?

There is bipartisan yelling about the Special Olympics cuts. Why? Because a Special Olympics training center is in Missouri, and the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee is Roy Blount.

From Missouri.

Who has said, the cuts aren't going to happen.

I wonder how the hon. Mr. Blount feels about some $50 mil in cuts to programs meant to help special needs kids.

President Donald Trump said he would jettison a proposal to slash funding for the Special Olympics, undercutting Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and the budget proposal he signed.

"The Special Olympics will be funded. I just told my people I want to fund the Special Olympics," Trump said he left the White House en route to a political rally in Grand Rapids, Mich. "I have overridden my people. We're funding the Special Olympics."

quote:
After Trump made the announcement, DeVos thanked the president and said they see "eye to eye" on this, adding she pushed him to change his stance on funding the program.

Uh-huh.

Well, there's some Snidely Whiplash in the Administration. Who does DeVos want to pin this on? Mulvaney?

If you grew up worshipping money, it would make perfect sense, and you'd be proud of both of them.
