Shut up and play your guitar! Minor Deity |
Thanks everyone! Spent the day with the Mrs. and oldest daughter. A nice brunch and home to listen to my present. New speaker day! Got a new pair of Klipsch RP-280FA Towers with Cherry finish. Found them on sale at Adorama for a steal. They sound amazing. They are ready for Dolby ATMOS whenever I decide to build the surround sound for movies. The have a separate "Height Channel" speaker in the top of the tower that is angled to bounce the sound off the ceiling. This provides a "3D Sound stage" that allows the engineers to place specific sounds in a specific place in 3D space. Very cool technology. ATMOS usually required ceiling mounted speaker. This model of Klipsch tower is reviewed very well and the ATMOS feature is reviewed as being indiscernible from ceiling mounted speakers. The bass these bad boys produce is very impressive. I do not feel like I need a Subwoofer for music. For movies, I will probably get a Subwoofer mainly for explosions and things. Since I moved the TV to the center of the 19ft living room, it now seems to be too small, and the carpet needs to be re-stretched or replaced. God I hate carpet. Sorry for the bad lighting on this one. Happy Birthday to Me! lol

$100k for a TV. Um, no. lol I also saw a pair a speakers for a mere $229,000.00. Yes, a larger TV is in the future. 75" or a motorized screen of 110" or so.

Happy birthday, Mark. Your TV picture reminds me of when Bonni and I got our Sony Betamax and the first video I rented was StarWars. At the time, we had a 13 inch Sony TV that she had before we got married and a sound system that we'd assembled that included a Heathkit stereo receiver, a pair of JBL Jubal speakers, a surround-sound processor feeding another amplifier and a pair of rear-channel speakers. As we watched the spacecraft flit across that 13 inch screen while the sound zipped back and forth across the room, something didn't seem at all right. The next weekend, we went out and bought a 26 inch Sony TV ( so 1980's) to bring the video image somewhat in line with the audio experience. The 13 inch TV was retired to another room. Big Al
