Anyone watching The Crown?

NinaAnyone watching The Crown?
What do you think?
I'm enjoying it, but not as much as the previous 2 seasons. For starters, even though the younger QE was duty-driven, you were given a sense that she wasn't such a stick in the mud behind the scenes. In the current season (as far as I've gotten), she doesn't come off that way. (I don't want to say much, for those who haven't watched it yet.)
I think Prince Phillip is very good, though, and a seamless transition from previous. Other than the economy, I'm trying to remember what the big issues were in England during the 60s-70s. Maybe part of the problem is that the period was relatively calm, royally speaking.
I dunno, this one seems much more soap-y than before.

wtgYou know, I don't subscribe to Netflix (I know, I know)...I'm beginning to think it's time....

piquéI'm loving the in depth portrait of their characters. Each episode is its own story emblematic of the focal character's struggles. I dont find it soap operaish at all.

dolmansaxlilI agree. Nina. I’m finding the performances outstanding but the story isn’t as compelling. I do really like their portrayal of Charles.

+1
I am still enjoying this season (finished yesterday) ..the difference I think is that this season is of a time where there are parts closer to my memory.
My 90 year old mother loved the first two episodes and expanded on her memories of the time...this next is entering my time...
I LOVED the actress who portrays Princess Anne...I have a soft spot for her..She was in the news for falling off her horse...As a teen, so was I..hence I got the nickname as "Anne"..

As an aside..we decided not to gather for Thanksgiving...distance and other issues..I was talking to Mom about it (out of guilt)...She told me she was telling folks "oh I am having dinner with friends" while in reality?
She has set aside the day to binge watch season 3...
I so want to be like her when I grow up!! Did I mention she is 90???

As an aside, watching videos is the ONLY way I can get myself to do stairstepping these days!
Just finished the full eight seasons of "Call the Midwife" (which FTR I really enjoyed, though by the end I was thoroughly sick of the magic of:
"There's the head! You clever, clever girl!!")

I liked that show a lot more than I thought I would.
Doc Martin (also 8 seasons) is a similar series. Have you seen it?
