The regional jets (RJs) have a slightly higher approach speed than comparable capacity turboprops. Airports like Presque Isle are exactly what these planes were built for.

ERJ145 (the plane in the picture):
Landing field length 4600 feet
Approach speed 110-145 knots

Bombardier Q400 turboprop
Landing field length 4323 feet
Approach speed 101-129 knots

An ATR72 turboprop is even a little slower than that.

The runways at Presque Isle are 7400 ft and 6000 feet.

This is a photo of the plane. Runway is on the right, landing gear (the one that isn’t in the engine) is in seen in the snow that looks like the initial touchdown. (Off the runway) passengers said there was a light snow squall, but I was told there pilots are supposed to be able to land with instruments here. First pass the pilot pulled up and asked that the runway lights get turned on. Second pass this happened. They are so lucky there is over 10 feet of snow here.
