Photo of airplane friends just landed on. Presque isle Maine, I think. (From Newark) they are ok. (Notice where the landing gear is)

Texting back and forth on facebook. Apparently they missed the runway completely. Second landing attempt. Friends said there was light snow. Omg.

How do you miss a runway entirely. Much of the descent is (or can be) automated.

Maybe not in a small airport like PI? I had the same question.

Last summer, the airline that had originally been flying out of there (penair, now part of Alaska, I think) lost its bid to United. Pen air flew props, these are small jets. I wonder if there is a difference, speed of landing, etc. they’ve had a record amount of snow there too. 160 inches or so.

They interview my friends in this one. The story says the plane slid off the runway, but these guys say the plane was nowhere near it when it landed. https://thecounty.me/2019/03/0...ort-in-presque-isle/

On a lighter note:

Rick and Cassie Daigle, owners of Too Far North Fitness in Fort Kent, were on the flight returning from Columbus, Ohio, where Cassie Daigle was competing in a kettlebell event at the Arnold Sports Expo.

Jodi, is that your friend? I'm not meaning to poke fun, I just love the extraneous details!

yes! this is the son and DIL of the man who saved my horse (by letting him stay in his barn when he was hurt a few years ago. They moved back while I was there and opened up a crossfit gym (which I belonged to). She is totally into the kettlebells and has started doing the competitions.
