Aww...what a wonderful story. It's funny how you can connect with animals when you least expect it...we were friends for several years with a squirrel we nicknamed Lefty because of his missing front paw. He managed to scramble up trees and do pretty much everything squirrels do. Of course we felt sorry for him and would toss him an occasional walnut or pecan if he was nearby when we were working in the yard. He was our friend for life.
