I just finished reading Ross Douthat's book The Deep Places: A Memoir of Illness and Discovery. He got Lyme disease and had the most awful long term problems that he just couldn't shake.

We simply don't know yet why some people get chronic Lyme or are COVID long haulers. You've got to wonder why most folks recover from certain infections and others are left with long term issues.

Maybe someday....
