Bernie Drops Out

BeeLadyBernie Drops Out
I have always wished he would bow out earlier rather than later.
We cannot afford to dilute the vote against I-1.
Still, I admire his tenacity.

rontunerNow the big challenge is to see if he can rally his supporters to go out and vote for Biden!
08 April 2020, 11:42 AM
pianojugglerHe really does need to do that -- get his supporters to back Biden. I can appreciate his reasons for staying in so long -- to give some air time to his ideas and make sure they remain in the discussion. But I'm sure there are ways to do that without remaining a candidate.

NinaBiden needs to acknowledge Bernie's significant contributions to the Dem platform and ensure they remain.

Yes, that.

piquéI'm very sorry to see this. Biden is not showing leadership during the pandemic. I still had hopes he would drop out and leave Bernie the last man standing. The election is going to be a disaster.

markjI voted for Bernie in our primary.
I have become a one issue voter now.
Universal Healthcare.
Until we get that, I will not be voting for people who do not make it part of their agenda.
That being said, I would rather vote for a rock, than vote for the dumpster fire we have now.

MikhailohWhat makes you think Biden will try to win? No, I think that Trump is once again the dog who caught the car. No one will really want to be taking that oath come January, least of all Joe.

All understandable, especially that last sentence.
Voting for Biden may not get universal healthcare, but at least we don't go back to the Stone Age ... potentially forever, given the Republican penchant for vote suppression.

MikhailohMark, I think universal healthcare will loom very large after this. It's difficult to argue for market forces when the government has to step in to preserve the market. Again.

Well, yes. The election is going to be a disaster. Biden isn't showing strong leadership during the pandemic, and his cognitive decline is an open secret even among Democratic Party leaders.

AmandaI never thought he could beat Trump, hence his dropping out was a foregone conclusion but I still feel very very sad about it. A true idealist.
I feel saddest of all about Trump's somehow managing to exploit this pandemic to apparently appear to masses as a War Hero - as much of a dishonest hash as he actually made of his handling it.
How and why this occured, remains as much of a mystery to me as his initial election. It is beyond catastrophic. Don't think I can bear seeing his exploiting the win as his Manifest Destiny, to further enrich the upper percent and impoverish everyone else (hitting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security) and to the ruin of our planet.
I see this calamity as a disease far worse than the pandemic which appears to be ensuring his win. Dreading more of his egomaniacal self-crediting for everything.

What do you think Biden should be doing?

I think you underestimate the ego of a politician.
