Hopefully this is the only Independence Day we celebrate under heavy social distancing and travel restrictions. Hopefully by this time next year, we have developed effective vaccines and enough people have been inoculated to render social distancing and travel restrictions unnecessary. My family is not going anywhere or doing any get-together. What, and how, are all you all doing this Independence Day?

I notice not much activity in the area as usual for a holiday weekend in this tourist area. My preference was to have a day to myself. Something special for me. No local noise, no fireworks, no local or city parade...weird, actually. Hope you all stay safe.

MrsTuner and I took a nice 13-mile bike ride along the lakefront trail. Not as crowded as last year - the beaches are still closed and they are discouraging bbq and picnics. Usually, the whole lakefront is one big cookout going south from us on the 4th. Plenty of boats out and some people sneaking into the water to swim hang out on the beaches. We've Facetimed with a few family members and are just kindof hanging out the rest of the day. Plenty of illegal fireworks in the neighborhood last night and we expect more tonight!

Lots of DIY fireworks around here. Hope people hang on to their fingers... Mostly hiding in the (air conditioned) house. It was pretty hot last week and the heat continues through next week. Taking walks early in the day and following the shade around my yard to do a little yard work off and on during the day. I have a major weed invasion to deal with. Maybe I'll get a load of mulch delivered if the temps break a little.. The upside is that the tomatoes, cukes, and peppers in the garden love this weather and are growing like crazy!
