DanGood for her.
There are many refugees in the US as well that can use help and support. Contact
IRC (International Rescue Committee) to find what's happening in your area of the country. There are volunteer opportunities in many major metropolitan areas around the country, and of course there are funding needs if anyone cares to donate cash instead of time.
Right now in Denver, IRC is settling mostly Afghan families, but also Syrians and other nationalities that have arrived in the US. So far there is only a trickle of Ukrainians getting to the US, and none of them are refugees from the current conflict, but rather were already here or enroute before the war began. US policy with respect to refugees means that not many Ukrainians will be allowed in the US unless the Biden administration finds some way to change or circumvent the current refugee process.
Here's a recent CNN article on
why the US has allowed so few.
Sue and I have been working with IRC in Denver for the past 6 or 8 months, sourcing household goods, furniture, and setting up apartments for families. We're also increasing our involvement by joining the family mentorship program and helping to transport families out of their temporary housing and into their permanent housing.
So don't hold back. You can help.

DanWe've been working with IRC here, but there are other agencies you could also check out in your area. Here's a list of the nine of the largest. Of course there are others as well.
Church World Service (CWS; religious);
Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM; religious);
Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC);
HIAS (founded as the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society; religious);
International Rescue Committee (IRC);
Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS; religious);
U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI);
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB; religious); and
World Relief Corporation (WR; religious).19

wtgWow, that's great, pj.
I looked at a website developed by a couple of Harvard kids that allows people to register and list what kinds of support they can offer. Not saying you necessarily want to go this route, but the descriptions that people provide may be helpful. I noticed at least one in Chicago where the family only speaks Russian, but notes that they have Ukrainian-speaking friends and that Ukrainian Village is nearby.
Here's an article about the initiative:

Those fleeing the violence in Ukraine could spend days traveling before they're able to reach safety.
That's why famed chef José Andrés, through his nonprofit World Central Kitchen, quickly set up facilities across the country to provide meals for people fleeing the war. They were on the ground in Ukraine one day after the Russian invasion.
"Why we are so quick? Because we don't plan. We don't meet. We come, and we begin cooking," Andrés told NPR's Michel Martin.
The nonprofit, which partnered with restaurants in the country, is serving food at hundreds of locations in 12 Ukrainian cities, he said. It also has sites in Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia for refugees who crossed the border to safety.
"It kind of breaks your heart, because you wonder why we need to be putting young people – men and women – in this situation of having to go to defend their country and putting their lives at risk. Nothing makes sense," Andrés said from the western Ukrainian city of Lviv.
"At least, feeding people is what makes sense. Longer tables, people working together to make sure that one plate of food at a time we can bring hope of a better tomorrow," he added.
