Have you been to Skyline Cincinnati Chili yet? There are two or three up around Cleveland. For a Californian I'd recommend starting with the Chilitos... chili cheese burrito. Just had ne for lunch. yum. Better with just a little of their hot sauce. https://www.skylinechili.com/cleveland/

Never been there, but reading the menu, I'd get a 4-way with onions.

I think there was one in downtown Chicago several decades ago when I was still working in the city. At least I remember some place that served chili that was ordered n-way. I thought it was pretty good, but there were so many great choices for lunch that I'm not sure I ate there more than a couple of times before they closed. I think I posted this article about Skyline here a while back.... https://www.mashed.com/142210/...th-of-skyline-chili/

Bob made something he called Cincinnati Chili. Hope that is better.

I’m picturing a can of baked beans, some ground beef, some ketchup, and a dash of paprika to “spice it up”.

Don't do that. I keep getting a visual. Bob's cooking is usually good.

No one I know has ever been able to recreate it from scratch. The mixes or cans are pretty good.

Yes, we went there. A nicer looking restaurant than I expected. I thought the chili was OK - not unlike the chili we got in big cans for the chili dogs when I worked in the snack shack. Tommy’s in LA is similar. Skyline has cinnamon in it - I’m not sure why. XLNT frozen chili is also similar, but it’s only in stores on the West Coast. I see they now have an online store.
