I used to enjoy occasionally visiting our old sister site. For some reason it wouldn't let me log in, but for lurking purposes that didn't matter. I'm unable to find it, though - unsure why. Anybody have their present URL?

I don't think I've been there in at least a few years. I used to go when someone posted a link to a thread but I haven't followed the NCR in practically forever.

I think getting triggered by TNCR was why I opted for WTF years ago.

What's that weird "bifocal" thing? I don't think I knew this latest TNCR existed. The last time I tried to look at it, it took me to a dead site. This was years ago.

I googled and found the site with all posts in 2020...Happened to see one posted by Klaus saying "We're Back!" Some tech issues it seems? I used to visit now and then just to stay up on others but...now? I never go there like I never go to Fox News..

I created “bifocal” as a convenient way to have WTF and TNCR side-by-side in one window. “Bifocal” stopped functioning after TNCR moved to a different platform in 2020 with more stricter security requirements. TNCR used to be hosted on the Zetaboard platform, which became very annoying to use with too much advertisements after Tapatalk (yet another hosting company/platform) bought out Zetaboard. So somewhere in 2020 we migrated away from Tapatalk (and left all the old data behind, we could not move the data; Tapatalk’s old TNCR forum maybe inoperable now). We now host TNCR on an open-source platform on leased virtual server. So now TNCR is member-funded much like WTF, no advertisements like WTF. And I dare say we have fairly complete control over TNCR’s hosting platform - now we control just about everything about TNCR’s hosting platform except the underlying server hardware, with a backup regime that will allow us to move TNCR again (without losing data) if we ever have/want to. Coffee-room.com is (and always have been) a shorthand way to help people remember how to get back to TNCR and WTF. If you ever lose track of TNCR or WTF’s URLs or if either community moves to a different URL, as long as you remember coffee-room.com , you can always find a way to either by visiting coffee-room.com. (Well, that’s my plan for coffee-room.com anyway.)

Maybe I should give the other place another try.

Ax, you deserve a metal. I don't have an interest in the NCR now, but I respect your efforts and achievements for the entire community. Are the archives actually gone? That's terrible.

Thanks very much, Ax! I agree with those of you who comment avoiding that site because of "triggering" (yes, this remains true to a degree). In fact, the most triggering there to me, frankly, is seeing the incredibly rude treatment of YOU in particular by a few (and to a lesser degree, the nauseating insults levied about others who aren't even present any more). Reminds me of the bad old days, when some - basically the same few - were treating a few targets with almost unbelievable cruelty, ones who were struggling to retain their dignity and not give up. Though they eventually did - give up, clearly the worse for wear. Sad proof of the futility of turning the other cheek forever, as those dedicated few folks persevered in doing to the bitter end. I wanted to be able to access that site (participating occasionally as long as I was able), largely because they often discuss topics that are not brought up on WTF. Financial, whatever - issues that happened to be ignored at our new home. I also wanted to keep up about people we've known for so long - sometimes having gone through severe hardships. With the virtual demise of forums as Facebook (then Twitter) took over, it's great to retain both TNCR and WTF, to carry on actual discussions. I retain admiration for your thick-skinnedness, since (as anyone who still lurks there knows) a few there continue to lash out at you, for unfathomable reasons. (Yes, that is a residual turn-off on that site, besides the off-turning POVs that still surface - the reason we split into factions. I find it much easier than before to simply skip them and without tension. Don't know how YOU do, though, Ax, as it's one of the reasons I only showed up rarely even before something technical blocked me. (I suspected I would become another targetfor those few so inclined.) It's worthwhile to see what the remaining cohort from the last decades have to say about the evolution of the world (all of us aging together) - especially since quite different topics are brought up at each watering hole. It's nice to see familiar names too. What a difference from Facebook where almost everyone remains a stranger, even in the special interest groups. Good for you, Ax! You're one of the stalwarts who keeps both sites going by managing the tech snafus (and by keeping the conversations going). Without you and a few others, WTF at least would surely have petered out long ago (wtg, you too.) You administer tech CPR as needed, filling the breach left by the original volunteer techies who launched our present sites (all now MIA).
