Lake House is 95% complete. All that's is left is artwork, details and one dresser.

The idea was to create something clean and modern that makes you feel like you are on vacation. 5 bedrooms, 7 beds, sleeps 12. We're hoping for the wedding trade - the venue where Kim got married is just down the street and it's the only house of it's size available in the area. We're also close to Cedar Point, several marinas and the ferries to the islands, Canada, etc. I think multi-family rentals are possible.

Living room:

Kitchen and dining:

MBR and bath:

Hall Bath:

Two upstairs bedrooms:

That looks like a place where people would love to stay. It's much better finished and furnished than any large group rental I've ever stayed in and the situation by the lake is an extra bonus. :thumbs-up:

Why aren’t you living there? You’ve done a great job with the place -I’m sure it will do well!

What you can't see is the weeks of work it took to refinish the walls, base and door trim. The former owner was a real menace with a caulking gun and scraping it all off took forever. Some of it was hopeless and I had to replace it. There's still more to do but I'm not sure any one notices it besides me.

It's still a bit cold for my taste, and the edges are too hard. Sharon likes it that way and artwork will help, but I plan to sneak in more warm elements over time. Neither of us like the white floor (it took hours with a magic eraser to get the stains out) but that will have to wait.

I've really enjoyed the project and it feels real good to have one again. It's a lot like work but being as it's my own place it's more like fun!

It's in a small town about 35 minutes north of family, shopping, etc. The house we live in is smaller and easier to maintain and would make a terrible rental.

That said, we may well move there at some point.

Where/how do you plan on listing it for rental? Inquiring minds want to know.

Looks fantastic. Can you lock off the basement and do separate apartment rentals?

We might be talking this summer. Would be nice to bring my Kent family up.

Getting to the basement from outside would be possible but difficult. I might have to consider a long sidewalk, stairs etc.
