pianojugglerAnd my father. They almost never find it until it’s stage 4. And the oncologist said it had been there for five to seven years before he had symptoms.

Piano*Dad A Rare Survivor Responds09 March 2019, 07:50 PM
BeeLadyAs I learned with my BIL, there are different types of pancreatic cancer...One or two are somewhat survivable but they are rare indeed.
BIL's type was rare enough that he (now deceased) is awaiting his payout from the 911 fund. He worked on Wall Street and was at Ground Zero the day of and weeks after.

AmandaMikhailoh, what IS a "periodic" body scan - that is, I presume, one not medically indicated by symptoms or previous illness?
How expensive are they and are their contradindications (like considerable radiation)? Do doctors really agree to such things if not part of some protocol?

AdagioMI know someone who discovered a pre-cancerous pancreatic tumor, found during a scan for a lung issue. Finding it early by accident.
I also know someone else who pays for concierge medical treatment, and I think it includes occasional full body scans.
