There is no reason to believe him, he lies all the time. Still, a sobering number and likely to be low. Wouldn’t it be great to have a federal government who we could trust to put out reliable numbers on a regular basis?

Birx and Fauci have been talking numbers of deaths for the last several days. Fauci started on a Sunday new show with the 100K figure and on Monday Birx first brought up the 240K figure. Yesterday, Birx showed graphs with both figures and said they represented the results from several models. Then she talked specifically about the IHME model out of the Univ of Washington (Chris Moore). His model estimates 84K, but that assumes that all governors issue strict stay at home orders within the next week. DeSantis, we’re looking at you. It’s worth watching yesterday’s briefing. Birx and Fauci laid it all out very clearly, at least for anyone who is comfortable with graphs and charts. This is what the scientists have known for a while, I think. They’re just now being allowed to tell the (relatively) unvarnished truth. edit: The people on the task force, in any event. Other scientists have been saying this for a while, but their data hasn't been tracked by the typical person. When it comes out at the briefing, it gets a whole new audience.
