At this restaurant, the kitchen is run by a rotating cast of grandmothers from around the world

When it first opened, it only featured Italian nonnas. Now, the roster includes grandmothers from Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Trinidad, Syria, Japan and beyond.

This restaurant is right here on Staten Island. It’s gotten a lot of press lately, including network TV news.

We’ve been there a few times. Here’s my wife chatting with one of the grandmas.

Restauranteurs must be looking at the success of the concept, but you couldn’t make a chain of restaurants based on it. It’s not “scalable,” as the business folk say.
