A Buddha Story
Posted by a high school friend who is on the front lines of the pandemic. He's the one who said that remdesivir might show promise, long before there were clinical studies demonstrating possible efficacy.

Buddha was once threatened with death by a bandit called Angulimal.
“c" One slash of the sword, and it was done! "What now?" asked the bandit.
"Put it back again," said Buddha.
The bandit laughed. "You must be crazy to think that anyone can do that."
"On the contrary, it is you who are crazy to think that you are mighty because you can wound and destroy. That is the task of children. The mighty know how to create and heal.

[aside] I have always remembered the laws of thermodynamics as taught by my freshman chemistry prof:
1. You can't win.
2. You can't break even.
3. Things can only get worse.

That's pretty close to the way my professor explained the laws of thermodynamics. His take on the first two was this:

1. You can't beat the house.

2. You can't even break even.
