I’ve been pining for a dog since our last two passed, and I finally spent some time on the AKC website looking at breeders yesterday.
One guy about 2 hours from here had Vizsla pups, and two males were available and ready to go. (The females go quicker because the hunters say they learn faster.) They were nine weeks old.
My first dog, best dog ever, was a Vizsla, so I’m pretty comfortable with the breed.
We went and met the two yesterday. The breeder is a 71 year old good old boy whose wife passed about 15 years ago. He’s clearly lonely and wants someone to talk to. He has over 30 (!) adult Vizslas, all apparently in very good health.
Phil’s brother was a bit of a maniac, but Phil was pretty calm and played with both of us and then crashed on each of our laps.
We had to extract ourselves forcibly because the guy wouldn’t stop telling his stories.
He slept on Mary Anna’s lap the whole way home, never whined once.
And, he slept through the night last night, without a peep and with no accidents. Good dog!
