not handguns. But some old hunting guns - a shotgun and a 22 (I think) - they belong to Mr. Jodi. I actually enjoyed target practice, clay pigeons - we did that a few times a long long while back.

This study is just out, showing that handgun owners are more likely to die from suicide than non-handgun owners:

Suicide attempts are often impulsive acts, driven by transient life crises.1,2 Most attempts are not fatal, and most people who attempt suicide do not go on to die in a future suicide.3,4 Whether a suicide attempt is fatal depends heavily on the lethality of the method used,5-8 and firearms are extremely lethal.6-8

Martial law gets imposed by the military. A president (or whatever title) would be only a figurehead.

A friend who had put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger could walk, but he had neurological issues from damage to his spinal cord.
He told me that many of the people in wheelchairs had put the gun in their mouths. The bullet severed or damaged their spinal cords.
Today's lesson is: Don't put the gun in your mouth to commit suicide.
