DanielNew College graduates tell the administration...
to shove off in as many words.
True spirit.
Reminds me of how we were all those years ago.
Love it.

NinaWhat De Santis is doing at New College is an abomination. They will lose talented professors and students. Correction - they are losing talented professors and students.
I know of a few who are more inclined to be on the conservative side of things, but completely disagree with Di Santis' bullying takeover, also known as government censorship, aka fascism.
And this from the group that not so long ago gave Reagan a standing ovation when he made the joke, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help...."

AxtremusLet's game this out a bit ...
Say DeSantis' new board/administrators retaliate by withholding the transcripts for these new graduates, transcripts that are needed to secure graduate school admissions, internships, scholarships, etc. What then?
Those of you working in higher education, are you confident that your school/employer will make an exception about requiring official transcripts for applicants who can substantiate claims that their official transcripts are being withheld due to some manner of political retaliation?

DanielIt is an abomination. It makes very sad and discouraged for those people who will now miss the opportunities and the community students had in the past.
DeSantis is jamming down the throats of all involved an explicitly Christan curriculum at a public school (of Hillsdale College).
This is against the separation of church and state.
He should be taken to court.
His most recent stunts were changing the law to allow Florida governors to run for president without giving up the governorship and changing the public records law so there will be no record of who visits him in the governor's mansion and who travels with him.

The governor (sic) can't hold a personal vendetta against a student and withhold her or his transcripts.
Not even in Florida.

Not saying the government can do it legally, only that board or administrator may do it anyway. The students may sue and win later, but litigation may takes years to resolve, time that grad schools and internships do not wait for. So unless employers/grad schools are willing to take these students in without requiring official transcripts, the students are taking big risks.
The questions still remains: "Those of you working in higher education, are you confident that your school/employer will make an exception about requiring official transcripts for applicants who can substantiate claims that their official transcripts are being withheld due to some manner of political retaliation?"

Piano*DadMost of us "working in higher education" wouldn't have a clue unless we're somehow close to decision making about graduate students or involved in hiring junior level non-academic staff. And given the tiny size of New College very few people will have to face that quandary.

DanielNew College graduates have been accepted at the best graduate and professional schools for decades.
Who knows what will happen now. I would definitely not return next year if I were a student there.
They seem to have deleted (cancelled) the integral role the Congregationalists (the Puritans) played in founding the original private school.
What purpose is served by ignorance?
The Republican Party doesn't care if DeSantis crushes New College to a pulp.
But apparently some in the Party are getting very concerned about his Disney vendetta.

“Early in Atlas' speech, attendees shouted "This isn't about you," and "Go f--k yourself,". Late in the speech, most of the several hundred attendees had stood with their backs turned chanting "Wrap it up" for about a minute.”
