He sent in the paperwork ages ago, but they only just contacted him. He hadn’t done plasma before, just blood. He was hooked up to the machine forever, An hour at least, while It separated the plasma, kept it, and put the rest back in. (He said that part was a little freaky when he thought about it too much). He got an email about a week later telling him his plasma was good ( apparently they can’t use it if there is too much fat in it or something), and that they were able use it to treat some very sick people ( I’m assuming that means folks with COVID-19)

My cousin's husband (my cousin in law??) had covid fairly early, and since he's recovered, he has so far donated plasma 17 times.

Thank him for us. I hope it works and does some good for someone. I saw last night that CNN guy is also giving and will televise it as he said something was odd compared to just giving blood. I need the past I heard giving this only helps very few peopl, like 4? Is that still true?

I think you can donate once a week. Steve said he’d do it again.

LL, I don't think that's the case?? I think my cousin said first he was involved in a study and then they stopped the study so they could give plasma to everyone (not just the experimental group) because it was helping so much. He also said they check for antibodies every time and as soon as he no longer has any, they won't take his plasma anymore. He seems to be an super-antibody-er or something! Or maybe it's about the t-cells moreso than the antibodies? I don't know but he posted this article a while back: https://www.nature.com/article...YeyANt73_bQTKCmD75hs

I think you can do it twice a week -- or once every two weeks. There's a two in there somewhere. I gave plasma when I was in my late teens. Got twenty bucks each time. Back then, they would take out a pint of whole blood, put in in a centrifuge, draw off the plasma, then put the red cells back in. The process took an hour or so. So... about that bruise on I-1's hand...

There is speculation that he is getting IV infusions of antibodies from people who have recovered from COVID.
