Muffin the Teacher
Muffin has been waiting for quite some time to find out the details of her new job as a teacher of English language learners at a charter school with a focus on world cultures.

She did her student teaching at a middle school and a high school. She was hoping to teach high school, but the job is K-4, and given that the NYC schools were not hiring at all, she was happy to get it.

What grade is she teaching....drum roll...

Kindergarten! So...not high school. ROTFLMAO

Muffin's Sister just asked her how many languages she was going to need to learn to say "Put your mask back on!" in.

ROTFLMAO

They're going to be so adorable, and they'll pick up English like little sponges. I think she'll have a great year.

She'll be teaching remotely for a month, and then they're going to do some hybrid thing where fewer than half of the 19-person class are in class on any given day, so she has a while to learn how to say "Put your mask back on!" in all those languages.

I suggested that she start by teaching it to them in ASL. Then she can tell the whole class what to do with a single gesture.

Can't a few other people chime in with "put yer mask on" in other languages? Lithuanian, perhaps?

I know we have at least one Chinese-speaker among us. And someone who I understand speaks Japanese pretty well.
