There's at least one person in the GOP who is clear-minded and who has a conscience.

Clear minded meaning of course he agrees with you. I have no issue with his vote and wish we could get back to those ethics. But he was the sole person I saw in this whole covfefe who was adhering to that.

Interview with Romney.

But wait--I thought you felt the impeachment hearings in the Senate were a farce, because Trump didn't do anything that was impeachable? If so, how can you praise him for adherence to ethical standards? Maybe I have you mistaken for someone else.

A writer for the Atlantic used "then" for "than". The world is going to hell for sure.

It's really very simple. This is what he believes. That it differs from what I believe is meaningless. He believes it and he took a very tough action that may cost him dearly in today’s sleazy political environment. That I respect him voting his conscience has nothing to do with agreeing with him. He might well be the only senator who did.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/0...tal-impeachment.html Remember all those Senators who were supposedly outraged when Schiff said, they’d been told they’d have their head on a pike if they voted to convict? Have you checked out Trump’s Twitter feed today?

It’s a very low bar but he cleared it. Good for him.

It's worse than that. A writer for The Atlantic used "then" for "than" and an editor for The Atlantic let it happen.

I think you're describing integrity - not ethics. He voted consistent with his conscience. Presumably so did the others who voted to acquit. Their conscience told them to go along with POTUS/McConnell/GOP/party loyalty. Ethics to me means voting consistent with some internal sense of morality, higher principles, right v wrong. From what I can see, Romney is the only ones who voted ethically.

I'd still vote for him. Had there been an option to convict and remove the lot of them I would have found that very tempting.
