Blast from the past
quote:
In 1979, a U.S. satellite detected signs of a nuclear explosion. An analysis of the evidence today points to a clandestine nuclear test, a Carter administration cover-up, and only one country that was willing and able to carry it out: Israel.

The nature of that event has been discussed for many years. The ambiguity of the Israeli nuclear arsenal has many pluses and minuses. Not knowing an enemy's capabilities makes military planning much more problematic.

I was not aware of the possibility that what might have been tested was the first stage of an H-bomb. That ups the stakes quite a bit. The radius of destruction from a low-kiloton A-Bomb versus a multi-megaton H-bomb is, shall we say significant. The possibility of expanses of the middle east being fused into glass is truly apocalyptic.

By the way, Daniel, I'm not laughing.

Fair enough. I misunderstood what your LOL was directed at. I'm glad you clarified it. in some forums, I would have incited a troll war.
