My Amazing Male Nurse Nephew

He is a ER nurse in Jersey City NJ.

He was the primary caregiver for his Dad, my wonderful brother in law, while he lost his life to pancreatic cancer due to 9/11.

He is now on the front line...He works overnight shifts. Thursday he had 9 deaths on his shift.

One was someone hit by a car, the second a gunshot.

The remaining 7 were COVID victims.

When he gets off work he goes to my sister's house and waves from the street to my sister and my 90 year old mother.

I am not religious but I pray for him.

On top of this, my sister's business is closed..one she has kept going since her husband's death.

I don't know how she keeps going, really.

Except that our tradition on signing off of calls..our last words are always.."I love you."

I cannot visit.
