Sounds like we’re all in accord! Having someone new in her life doesn’t mean she loved Dave any less. The new person isn’t a replacement. And love isn’t a zero sum game.

But life is for the living, and she should have some happiness, even though she’ll miss Dave every single day.

The acceptable amount of time is the amount of time she feels is acceptable. End of story.
