Also U Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. I'm staying away from the private schools because of cost and low acceptance, but Princeton is really good. The elephant on the room is bright red Georgia tech....

Not sure what you mean by this. my youngest son is a Georgia Tech grad (Mechanical Engineering) and being a state school is less expensive than many other excellent schools. (If I had had a crystal ball, I might have moved to Georgia when I had a chance so he would have enjoyed in-state tuition rates.) If you're referring to politics, Atlanta is not equivalent to the state of Georgia overall.
